edio: version 3, built while version 2 kept running
A US online school with 20,000+ students is rebuilding its platform. I help ship version 3, rewriting old features and building new ones side by side, while the current version keeps working for students, teachers and parents.

The problem
edio is the learning platform of Commonwealth Charter Academy, a Pennsylvania public cyber charter school serving 20,000+ K–12 learners. Students, teachers and parents acting as learning coaches all use it every day.
The platform is being rebuilt as version 3. That means rewriting old features and adding new ones in parallel, across many separate apps, while version 2 keeps serving the school and still needs fixes.
What I did
- Building version 3 of the platform: rewriting old features and adding new ones side by side, while fixing bugs in the version schools use today.
- Worked across many apps: creating and taking exams, grading, student management, progress tracking and feedback.
- Co-develop and maintain the shared libraries every app is built on, consumed as Git submodules so each app uses one versioned source of truth.
- Defined the rules others build on: component API conventions, versioning and the release workflow, documentation standards, and review of other developers’ contributions.
- Built rich features: rich-text authoring (Quill), progress dashboards (Chart.js), file submission (react-dropzone) and in-browser capture (react-webcam).
